ABOUT

SANIYAH HILL (they/them) is a Black-American writer that focuses on the intricacies of the human psyche. Combining interests in psychology, religious imagery, and mythology, they use fantasy and contemporary settings as a backdrop to tell diverse and compelling stories. They do intensive character studies and reflect on how people’s pasts affect their behavior and relationships in the present through many writing styles.Saniyah takes their past and real world experiences and puts it on the page in overarching plots, complex characters, expansive worldbuilding, and presents their stories with themes of friendship, grief, love, community, and above all else, hope. They aim to not only tell unique stories that include neurodiversity, queerness, and mental illness, but black stories as well, as shown through the many characters they create.They plan to get a MFA in Creative Writing in the near future.
